Other than from their accent..what other ways to spot a fellow Singaporean overseas when travelling?
Even when we’re out of Singapore, our identity as Singaporeans still stands out — especially to another Singaporean.
Here are some ways you confirm plus chop know they’re Singaporean too. hehehe
Bring Chilli from home
Many Singaporeans can't do without chilli. So much so that we go as far as bringing our own. If you see someone whip a bottle out from their bag, it’s almost a guarantee that they’re from the little red dot.

Having 3-in-1 Milo sachets and Maggi Mee
Most of us grew up drinking Milo in Singapore. So, it’s no surprise that these green sachets are what Singaporeans overseas turn to in times where some comfort is needed. We also can’t forget instant noodles, which is a lifesaver for your supper fix!
They are in a Queue for food
Regardless of whether we’re at home or overseas, if there’s a long queue, it must be good.

Bargaining at Local Markets
Back home, it’s hard to bargain with shop owners. So it comes as no surprise we would want to save a few bucks while on our overseas trip. We’ve become experts in eyeing and bargaining for the best deals, and of course making sure we’re getting our money’s worth.
Speaking Slinglish
Without even looking, you can spot Singaporeans overseas by hearing their accent. 100% guarantee plus chop, you are in the presence of another Singaporean. Don’t paiseh lah, say hi!

Comparing everything to back home
“Eh this one Singapore cheaper, don’t buy here.”
“Eh, this one Singapore don’t have, buy more.”
“Wah, here so hot, even hotter than Singapore.”
“Wah, here so cold, if only Singapore was like that.”
Chope the seats!!
We sometimes bring this habit overseas when we are trying to reserve seats.
What other things do you think Singaporeans do overseas? Do you know of more ways you can identify a fellow citizen overseas?
